The sportography, or sport-autobiography, is a 2-4 page paper on your involvement (or noninvolvement) in physical play, informal games, dance, and organized sports. The paper should outline when you became involved the following topics:
Key moments and intense memories, including at least one negative and one positive moment
The role of influential others such family relationships/dynamics, friends, school, teachers, coaches, etc.
The role of media and deviance as they relate to your sport involvement/non-involvement.
The role of two of the following as they relate to your sport involvement/non-involvement:
Race & Ethnicity
Gender
Social Class
Politics
Your current situation and anticipated future
The goal is to be self-reflective as you remember, describe, and analyze your sport experiences, the contexts in which they occurred, and the impact they had on you and others who were involved. You want to analyze and describe your experiences in a way that enables you to put them in context as they relate to our course material. The assignment, then, is not just a mere chronology of what has happened in your sporting life. Instead, the assignment is for you to connect the course material to your involvement or non-involvement in sport, physical play, informal games, dance, and organized sports.

Read the article on the Retention and Destruction of Health Information.
<
<
After reading the article, review the scenarios related to health record retention and destruction. Draw a conclusion for each scenario, based on health information guidelines, regulations, or best practices.
<
<
Your organization keeps paper records for ten years, and you are purging records for destruction. What concern do you have with staff pulling records based strictly on that ten-year indicator?
<
Your HIM department is moving to a new office. In the moving process, in the back of a storage closet, a box of old registries is found. These contain records of births at the organization 50 years ago. What should be done with those records?
<
There has been debate in your HIM department about how long fetal monitoring strips must be retained. They are considered part of the mother’s health record. What is your recommendation
<
You have just taken a new job at a tertiary care facility after working in a small community hospital. At your previous place of employment, records were retained for 15 years and then destroyed. At this new facility, records are maintained permanently. What inference can you draw from this difference in the procedure?
<
You have just become HIM director a small critical access hospital. The hospital purges records for destruction quarterly and the staff has all the records boxed and ready to go. The destruction company workers arrive to collect the records and load them into the truck. They are preparing to leave, but you stop them Why?

Review the scenario below and answer the questions
<
<
Kelly was a new coder who had never held an HIM job before. She had just graduated from college and passed her RHIT when she was hired by a local clinic and she was excited to start working. A few weeks later, her manager asked to meet with her. The manager closed the door and told Kelly that she wanted to code the health record for a particular procedure using two codes instead of one so the reimbursement would be higher. The manager then proceeded to divulge information that the clinic was struggling financially so anything extra would help. Kelly got the impression that if she did not comply, they would let her go. She really needed the job and since it was her boss asking, she felt obligated to do as she was told.

Leaders play an exceptional role in the fight for social justice within their given communities.

Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Preparing School Leaders to Advocate for Social Justice (Links to an external site.) and “What Is the Best Way to be a Social Justice Advocate?” Communication Strategies for Effective Social Justice Advocacy. Leaders play an exceptional role in the fight for social justice within their given communities. From a theoretical perspective, the role of a leader might seem clear, as we know there are professional standards within the ECE field that serve as guiding posts for leaders. However, in reality, the fight for social justice as a leader might actually look very different within the role, as leaders are balancing standards, expectations, policies, processes, and much more.
<

<

For this discussion, you will need to conduct a brief interview with a leader who works or volunteers at a social justice organization. Use your current network, social media, or LinkedIn to identify someone who would be willing to give you 10 to 15 minutes of their time to discuss the work they do. As you identify an individual, make sure to remember there is a wide scope of businesses, schools, churches, and non-profits who are doing good work in the social justice field. After your interview, you will analyze the interview responses and build a connection between ECE professional standards and our course content.
<

<

Prior to conducting your interview, review the discussion prompt below to make sure you ask the correct questions. Here are some potential questions that you may ask:
<

<

From your perspective, what are some of the things that still need to happen to move social justice issues forward for the people or community that your serve?
<

How has your definition of social justice changed as a result of working in this area?
<

What recommendations or advice do you have for anyone looking to become more engaged in the social justice issues?
<

What expectations are placed on you as a leader involved in social justice issues?
