Task 1

Create a criteria to ensure that all employee turnover data is accurately recorded in order to determine the cost to the theatre.
[note: set this out as a template that could be captured in Excel].
Step 0 = Identify the key words in the Task.
 It is suggested those highlighted in yellow are the key parts you must address in your answer..
Step 1 = Look at various templates in Excel. You can Google these:
 for example, see website https://templates.office.com/en-gb/premium-templates.. but there are other websites you could look at also..
 download / keep to hand any you think you could use for formatting your proposed data analytics spreadsheet.
Step 2 = Download & read CIPD Factsheet (2014) ‘Employee Turnover & Retention’ [ignore the bits dealing with ‘retention’ since the assignment is only asking about employee turnover].
 ensure there is congruence between what you intend to do at Step 5 and how the CIPD defines ‘turnover’ + how Edwards & Edwards define turnover (which is more detailed) in Step 3.
 You might want to make notes as to how different types of turnover are calculated (page 206 in Edwards & Edwards..).Step 3 = Look at any employee turnover HR analytics studies you can find.
 For example, Case Study 3 in Edwards & Edwards (2019) Predictive Data Analytics. London: Kogan Page, pp 203- 257.
 Select those parts of Edwards & Edwards analytic framework you think are relevant.. please note that the Case Study in the book gets more detailed as you work through to page 257.. not all is ‘relevant’ to the circumstances of Belgrade Theatre. For example you can ignore any ‘regional analysis’ because the Theatre only operates from one location in Coventry..Step 4 = Turn now to the very limited information provided by the ‘spreadsheet’ in the Case Study, Belgrade theatre. Identify the all the categories of employee referred to because these will need to be included in your data analytics spreadsheet…Step 5 = Determine the specification for your data analytics spreadsheet (i.e., what individual pieces of data (length of service, age, gender etc.). In doing this, you will have to iterate (move between / backwards & forwards) this Step 5 and Step 6.
 list these items as a reference / checklist for your ‘narrative’ (please see explanation of this term in Week 3- 4 SHR019-3 teaching slides.
 think of your ‘justification’ for each being included. any data collected must help the Theatre calculate more accurately the true employee turnover cost.. Data is ‘expensive’ to collect. so, you would only want to collect that which is going to help calculate cost.
Step 6 = What do you want (information) to get from your data (priorities for calculating cost…. think which are the major costs (advertising? recruitment? onboarding?
 Use your CIPD reading / research to help you ‘justify’ your choice of most/least costs associated with ‘turnover’..
 Do you want to be able to ‘predict’ future turnover… if so, how will you be able to do that?Please answer just TASK 1
